Matthew Hardy Furniture

Matthew Hardy is a furniture designer and maker producing bespoke furniture in Edinburgh, Scotland. He works on commissions with private clients and interior designers. Matthew Hardy studied furniture making at the Chippendale International School of Furniture in Scotland and began making furniture full-time in 2024. He is a member of the Scottish Furniture Maker's Association.

His designs have been featured at the New Furniture Makers Awards 2024 and the Craft Scotland HARVEST exhibition 2025. He produces custom pieces from free-standing furniture to fitted kitchens.

In Edinburgh, Matthew Hardy Furniture produced custom Sapele cabinets for a client who had struggled to find the right pieces in ordinary furniture shops. Matthew is the named maker, and the customer encountered him as he was preparing to deliver a matching pair to someone else. He enlarged the design to suit the customer's requirements.

The completed cabinets drew praise for their form, rounded edges and the deep brown tone of the wood, and are described as items the owner will treasure. Matthew's guidance and attention throughout the commission are also highlighted. Cabinet making, bespoke sizing and delivery define the work recounted.
