Acorn Joinery

Acorn Joinery is a carpentry and joinery business run by Stewart Johnston. Established 20 years ago, it is fully insured. The company specialises in domestic joinery, both internal and external, and serves the West End to Milngavie and Bearsden. It offers free quotes, often the same day.

Typical jobs include hanging doors, draft proofing sash windows, putting up a fence, or fitting new skirting. Smaller jobs include custom shelving, changing locks, or repairing rotten wood. Acorn Joinery can supply most materials. It can provide quotes for insurance work. It can also provide and liaise with other trades as required.

Word-of-mouth approval for Stewart's workmanship and manner runs through accounts of jobs completed around Glasgow's west end. More than one customer describes a skilled and knowledgeable joiner who takes time to understand the desired outcome rather than assuming it, and who sets out the choices clearly before beginning. The spread of work is broad, taking in a replacement external door with its surround, a curved frame built for an arched attic sash window, the repair of Victorian oak shutters so they could serve their purpose once more, window cills, and kitchen cabinets reattached after pulling away from the wall.

Punctuality and responsiveness come up repeatedly, with same-day and emergency visits noted, together with tidy, efficient working practices. One thing mentioned again and again is the reasonable pricing quoted for the standard achieved, and a readiness to return when a customer reconsidered part of a job. Friendliness, patience and professionalism are recorded as consistently as the finish itself, with new doors, fencing and smaller household fittings all covered. The thread running through the feedback is reliable joinery carried out with care and good humour.
