Oz the Carpenter

Oz the Carpenter was founded in 1994. The owner is Philip Osman, also known as Oz. He is a self-employed domestic carpenter. The service area includes Kings Heath and Moseley in South Birmingham. The business specialises in shelving, building fitted cupboards, and small jobs. It is fully insured. It no longer hangs doors, but adjusts doors that do not open or close properly. It no longer does wardrobes or skirting, except very small sections.

Oz the Carpenter has produced bespoke bookshelves, fitted shelving for a living room and storage for a home office, alongside a garden gate, a picture rail, a television installation and repairs to interior doors, floorboards, a window sill and skirting. A point made in several accounts is the openness of his manner and the clarity with which he explains what needs doing, while the standard of the finished work is described as solid and neat.

Customers in several reviews describe quotes as fair and settled beforehand, with no unexpected additions once the job is under way, and punctuality is mentioned repeatedly, including a same-day visit to inspect creaking floorboards and a prompt return to carry out the repair. The breadth of smaller tasks handled alongside the joinery is noted, from making a back door close securely to fitting locks on bedroom doors, and repeat business recurs, with one household commissioning a second project and another planning further shelving. Reviewers connect the work to dependability, careful finishing and joinery that meets the brief.
